Birat Agri IPO: Nepal’s Integrated Fish Farming Company Prepares to Go Public

Company News

Nepal has the water, the farmers, and a growing appetite for quality fish. What it still needs is a stronger local system that connects the pond to the plate.

That’s what we’re building at Birat Agri Limited: fish farming, feed production, processing, and distribution working together under one roof.

Recently, we took a big step in that direction. As reported by ICT Frame, we have appointed NIC Asia Capital Limited as issue and sales manager for our proposed Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Who We Are

We’re based in Itahari-13, Sunsari, and run commercial fish farms across Morang and Sunsari. Our operations cover about 160 ponds at five sites, around 100 bigha of water.

But we never wanted to be “just” a fish farm. Fish farming, feed, processing, storage, packaging, and distribution all affect one another. When they’re connected, we can plan production better, waste less, and respond faster to what the market needs.

Our Feed Plant: Where Good Fish Start

Healthy fish start with good feed. It shapes growth, efficiency, and the overall results of a farm.

Our feed plant in the Khanar Industrial Area, Itahari-13, produces up to 25 metric tons a day of both floating and sinking feed, so farmers can match feed to how their fish eat.

We now plan to add a second facility with a capacity of 10 metric tons a day, producing nutrient-rich feed for aquatic animals and livestock.

Taking Fish Beyond the Pond

Raising fish is only half the story. Getting them to customers fresh, clean, and well packaged is just as important.

We plan to build a modern Pangasius processing facility to produce and market fish fillets and other value-added products. With it, we hope to:

  • Bring more value-added fish products to the market
  • Improve processing and packaging standards
  • Connect our farms more closely with what happens after harvest
  • Handle, preserve, and distribute our fish better

Our Five-Part Model

PartWhat it does
Fish farmingManaging commercial ponds for steady production
AquafeedFloating and sinking feed, with more capacity planned
ProcessingPangasius fillets and other value-added products
Storage and packagingKeeping products fresh and market-ready
DistributionGetting our fish to the people who buy them

What the IPO Means for Us

NIC Asia Capital is expected to provide merchant banking and advisory services for the public share issuance. The funds raised are intended to support our expansion: more feed capacity, modern processing technology, and additional infrastructure.

Please note: the IPO is subject to regulatory approval and official disclosures. For the issue size, share price, opening date, and how to apply, rely only on official announcements.

Beyond Our Own Ponds

If we deliver, the effects should reach farmers, suppliers, processors, transporters, and retailers. Over time that could mean more local production, more value-added products, new jobs as projects are implemented, and possibly fewer imports where local fish can compete. How much of that happens will depend on how well we execute, market demand, and the wider economy.

Looking Ahead

Our farms and feed plants give us a strong foundation. Now we need careful planning, steady discipline, and close attention to what the market asks of us.

We’ll keep building, and we’ll keep you updated along the way.
